Vote Catching Labour WLBC Proposals For New Leisure And Wellbeing Hubs

“We are working on exciting plans to create new leisure and wellbeing hubs in Ormskirk and Skelmersdale to replace Park Pool and Nye Bevan Pool.

“Initial proposals for both new facilities include: 25m x 6 lane main pool, plus a teaching pool and leisure pool; 120 station fitness suite; Dance and spinning studios; Assault course-style soft play area; Café.

“Suggestions for the Skelmersdale hub also include a tenpin bowling alley, climbing walls and multi-purpose community rooms.

“Churchfields, next to the current Park Pool, is the proposed site for the new Ormskirk hub. Park Pool would only close when the new Hub is ready to open and would be returned to parkland as part of a wider plan for the development of Coronation Park.

“The Skelmersdale Leisure and Wellbeing Hub, which would replace Nye Bevan Pool, is proposed to be on the Ingram site next to West Lancashire College and Asda. Again, Nye Bevan would only close when the new Hub facility opens”.

“We continue to be excited by the development progress being made by the Leisure Trust and Serco Leisure Operating Ltd at the Beacon Park Golf Course since 2013. We deny any suggestions (all inadvertently made in error in writing by senior officers) that the course would be ready in 2019, 2020, and 2021”.
