Small Reduction In Coronavirus Infections For West Lancashire

Our West Lancashire Ormskirk & Southport NHS Trust hospitals  have recorded 66 new coronavirus infections today,  bringing the cumulative total to 7,228, that’s 6,323.4 per 100,000 of our population.

Sadly one person is reported to have died from coronavirus yesterday, bringing  the total community losses to 313.

Some people with coronavirus have to go into hospital. 9 people with coronavirus went into hospital on 17 January 2021. Between 11 January 2021 and 17 January 2021, 104 went into hospital with coronavirus. This shows an increase of 23.8% compared to the previous 7 days.

There were 122 patients in hospital with coronavirus on 19 January 2021.

Some people in the hospital need to use a special device called a mechanical ventilator to help them breathe. There were 12 coronavirus patients in hospital beds with a mechanical ventilator on 19 January 2021.
