
Dr Sakthi Karunanithi, Director of Public Health for Lancashire County Council has said “The new strain of coronavirus identified in London and the South East is now believed to be in Lancashire”.
Public Health England has reported West Lancashire having 25 new cases of the infection, with a cumulative total of 5,141, and 4,497.6 infections per 100,000 of our population.
Sadly, one person with the virus has died at Ormskirk & Southport NHS Hospital Trust today. We have now lost 266 of our community to this awful pandemic.
NB West Lancashire’s Covid hospitalisations under a) national lockdown (Nov 5 to Dec 1) were 204 hospitalisations, 7.6 per day, and b) start of Tier 3 (Dec 2 to 13) 60 hospitalisations during start of Tier 3 rules (5 per day).
