The West Lancashire Ormskirk & Southport NHS Trust hospitals have reported 9 new cases of coronavirus infections today. The cumulative number is 5,032, that’s now 4,402.2 infections per 100,000 of the population.
Sadly, three fatalities were recorded at Southport and Ormskirk Hospitals, including one on November 21, one on December 12 and one on December 16. As we know, NHS England’s daily figures sometimes include previously uncounted deaths that took place several days or weeks ago that ultimately have a reference to coronavirus on the death certificate. We’ve lost 264 people from our community.
Complacency is something we must not entertain, as the National R rate is rising dangerously, now believed to be 1.1-1.2. We should all be thinking how vital our local wonderful NHS staff are to us. As we take care of ourselves we will be taking care of them too.
