The Environment Agency has provided a further update on the latest situation on the heavy rain and flood risk in Lancashire over the next few days.
The Met Office weather warning for heavy rain over Lancashire remains in place until midnight on Sunday evening. As expected we have seen a break in the rain during the day today, but we continue to expected heavy rain to return this evening. The heaviest rain is expected to be over high ground.
Based on the current forecast, we have assessed there is a low risk of significant flooding from rivers and surface water in Lancashire today. With more rain predicted over the weekend, this may change and the flood risk may increase. The forecast also includes a very low possibility that there could be minor coastal flooding from spray.
There is currently one Flood Warning and two Flood Alerts in place in Cumbria and none in Lancashire. We are expecting to issue several flood alerts and possible flood warnings for Lancashire from this evening and over the weekend.

Our teams continue to work out and about in Lancashire, clearing grids, checking defences and making sure our pumping stations are working. As always, we are ready and prepared to respond to any flooding incidents 24/7. We follow Government guidelines on social distancing at all times.
We continue to work with local authorities and other partners to reduce the risk of flooding. We urge people to check their flood risk, sign up for free flood warnings and keep up to date with the latest situation at https://www.gov.uk/check-flood-risk, call Floodline on 0345 988 1188 or follow @EnvAgencyNW and #floodaware on Twitter. Please feel free to highlight these information sources via your own social media.
We also advise people to take care on coastal paths, stay away from swollen rivers and not to drive through flood water as just 30cm of flowing water is enough to move your car. We hope this information is useful to you. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any queries during office hours. For any queries out of office hours, please ring the Floodline number on 0345 988 1188.
