While dozens of parks across Lancashire have been commended in the annual Green Flag Awards, we were saddened to learn the Beacon Park Golf Course, cared for so lovingly by Serco, has missed out.
It was a record-breaking year for the scheme which recognises and rewards well managed parks and green spaces across the UK, who handed out awards to more than 2,000 parks and green spaces.
For West Lancashire we found the Edge Hill University campus and Coronation Park listed. Well done to those who have cared for them.
Perhaps the help of the WLBC greenkeepers for the Serco Beacon Park Golf Course, above, came too late?
