Despite the new Covid-19 restrictions banning household mixing across parts of the North West having been announced, Lancashire has not been included despite having the area with the worst infection rate in all of England.
Health Secretary Matt Hancock told the House of Commons that the Liverpool city region and Warrington, as well as Hartlepool and Middlesbrough, will have tighter measures in place.
The measures will legally stop people from meeting with those they do not live with in any indoor setting. Hancock confirmed “rules will not change in Lancashire at this point”. But Dr Jim Gardner, medical director at the Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, has said further lockdown measures “for all of Lancashire” are being discussed.
