The West Lancashire Ormskirk & Southport NHS Trust hospitals reported 10 new coronavirus infections today. The cumulative total is now 942 infections, that’s 824.1 per 100,000 of the population.
The UK Joint Biosecurity Centre has recommended the Covid-19 alert level for the UK should be increased to Level 4, meaning transmission of the virus is “high or rising exponentially”,
The County reported over 200 infections today, but no deaths from coronavirus have been recorded. Lancashire’s leading public health official has declared that a second wave of coronavirus has already arrived in the county. Dr Sakthi Karunanithi stated “And if we don’t act now it’s going to get a lot worse, so this should be a warning sign not just for Lancashire and the North West but for the whole country. We need swift, decisive action among all of us”.
