Pearls Of Wisdom from our County Jobsworths
“Lancashire County Council told the Champion “The flooding was caused by the downpour overwhelming local drainage systems”.
And “Many of these systems eventually drain out to sea and the problems along the west coast of Lancashire were compounded by a high tide at 4.40am which meant the water could not quickly drain away”. And the distance from Burscough to the sea is?
And “We’re aware of a number of properties being flooded and our thoughts are with those who have been affected”.
Well, thoughts cost nothing, but installing drainage systems that won’t be overwhelmed might be costs well spent from the vast amounts of council tax we all contribute to?
