From Boris Johnson
“Our priority as Conservatives is to get Brexit done so that we can unleash the potential of this great country. So that we can push past the obstacles that other parties have put in our country’s way. So that we can deliver on the people’s decision in 2016 and use our new post-Brexit freedoms to transform the UK for the better by focusing on your priorities. If we elect a majority of Conservative MPs to Parliament, we will start putting our deal through Parliament before Christmas and we will leave the European Union in January”.
Seems that Nigel Farage might be glum about the Tory manifesto?
Speaking at the manifesto launch in the Conservative marginal seat of Telford in Shropshire, Boris Johnson said that every other main party would refuse to get Brexit done.
“The Lib Dems want to revoke Brexit. The Scots Nationalists want to cancel Brexit and have another referendum on Scotland as well. As for Labour, they will plainly give in to Nicola Sturgeon and waste the whole of next year in two more referendums, one on Scotland and one on the EU – except that Jeremy Corbyn won’t tell us whether he would even be willing to advise people to vote in favour of his own deal. He used to be indecisive, now he’s not so sure”.
Shadow Education Secretary Angela Rayner added to the confusion when she said “I think some of the problems that we have at the moment is the framing of this is that everybody’s Remain, and that’s just not true. Actually the country did vote to leave the European Union, and we’ve said we respected that, so we’re not going to be like the Lib Dems and just ignore that. We will negotiate a deal and we’ll put that back to the people, and they will have the ultimate say, and then we’ll move on”. They, we, had our say, 17.4 million of us!
And the LimpDum leader had to say something stupid again “I believe that we should stop Brexit and it may be that ‘peoples’ vote’ is the best way to do that. We have campaigned for that for more than three years. As we have said, over the last year, if we can put a specific Brexit deal to the British public with the option to Remain, Liberal Democrats would support having a people’s vote, we will vote for that legislation”.
She, they, have disputed democracy for over three years. 17.4 million people voted. If this “peoples’ vote catches on, we could have a serial run of them every year. One question might be “Will the people now decide to vote out of existence the phrase “peoples’ vote”?
