Yesterday the Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service
attended Long Lane, Aughton at 12:25 with two fire engines from Ormskirk and Skelmersdale, for a road traffic collision. The collision involved two vehicles. One casualty was rescued by fire service personnel who used a long board and tear drop. The casualty was conveyed to hospital by North West Ambulance Service and crews were at the scene for thirty minutes.
Long Lane is the source of a long standing dispute about traffic speeding. It’s known locally as the Wacky Races
and will, when the local Aughton Parish Council gets its collective finger out, have some speed indicator devices to record the speeds of what some residents describe as “lethal” vehicles using the lane.
