You Know The Definition Of A Vassal State?
“A state with varying degrees of independence in its internal affairs but dominated by another state in its foreign affairs and potentially wholly subject to the dominating state”.
As Tory Minister Jacob Rees-Mogg suggested “In the old language of international affairs, a “vassal state” was often obliged to pay money to its superior, and usually expected to provide military assistance on demand. It remains to be seen whether Jean-Claude Juncker really intends to appropriate our aircraft carriers”. We already pay the money!
There are many true words spoken in jest, although when you read the gist of the “Stop Brexit” Bill you might not be amused. Tonight, with the connivance of the Speaker
MPs will push for an incendiary law to be passed through the Commons in a bid to frustrate the Prime Minister’s Brexit plans, as he tries to impose the “Leave” decision voted for by 17.4million people.
Their demands are
“The PM must seek an extension of Article 50 unless Parliament votes for a deal or are in favour of a No Deal exit by October 19.
Boris Johnson must write to European Council President Donald Tusk requesting an extension to 11pm on January 31, 2020.
The Bill even includes the precise text of the letter he must send
‘Dear Mr President, The UK Parliament has passed the European Union (Withdrawal) (No 2) Act 2019. Its provisions now require Her Majesty’s Government to seek an extension of the period provided under Article 50…currently due to expire at 11.00pm GMT on 31 October 2019, until 11.00pm BST on 31 January 2020.
Yours sincerely, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.’
If the EU demands an extension to another date, the PM must agree to Brussels’ request within two days.
Government must publish a report by November 30 explaining what progress has been made in the negotiations with the EU, and MPs and peers will have to vote on this report within five days.
If this report is rejected or amended, the Government must publish another report setting out plans for another extension and further negotia-tions with the EU.
From February 7, 2020, onwards, the Government must publish a report every 28 days explaining how the negotiations are going”.
Well, that is from the UK Parliament!
To patriots “Rule Britannia” is probably second only to “God Save The King”/”God Save The Queen” in the hierarchy of patriotic British songs, and can be viewed as an unofficial national anthem.
“Britons never, never, never shall be slaves. When Britain first, at heaven’s command, Arose from out the azure main, This was the charter of the land, And Guardian Angels sang this strain”.
Where will we find any “Guardian Angels” in the wretched Parliament that wants to create a vassal state of the UK?
