Boris Bombshell?

With immaculate timing Boris Johnson intends to close one parliament while another one is in its infancy!

The so-called People’s Parliament is nothing more than an anti-democratic coup! On the one hand, it’s reported in the Telegraph “When did adding the word “People’s” to everything start being A Thing? First we had the People’s Vote, then we had the People’s March and now, lo and behold, we have the People’s Parliament.

“This is somewhat confusing. After all, who is doing all the voting that isn’t being done by, well, people? Are there national squirrel referendums we haven’t been told about?

“Are cats regularly daubing placards with EU flags and heading off to London on marches I’ve been unlucky enough to never spot? And, other than owls, who else is sitting in parliaments that we have apparently otherwise missed?”

On the other hand “The Queen will be asked to agree to suspend Parliament today, it has emerged. Her Majesty, who is in Balmoral, will be asked to agree to prorogue parliament by the Privy Council. They will meet on Wednesday to discuss extending the conference recess until Oct 14”.

Boris Johnson is set to ask the Queen to suspend Parliament just weeks before Brexit. Under prorogation plans to be approved at Balmoral today, MPs will not sit between September 9 and October 14, according to reports. That will give MPs extremely little time to prevent a No Deal Brexit on October 31, despite cross-party efforts to pass legislation to do just that. The Government insists the move is a regular procedural step and called it a ‘bog standard Queen’s Speech process’ but opponents of Brexit immediately labelled it a ‘dark day for UK democracy’. The Prime Minister has repeatedly promised the UK will leave the European Union on October 31, with or without a deal.

Haven’t we had over 1,000 dark days of UK democracy as remoaners defy the will of the democratic vote to leave the EU?

Archbishop Justin Welby

said it was “an unexpected privilege” to be asked by senior MPs to oversee the discussions involving a cross-section of people from across the country. However, he insisted it must not be used as a vehicle to “stop or delay Brexit”. Senior MPs, including the chairs of some Commons committees, wrote to the Archbishop on Tuesday telling him “there is an urgent need to bring the country together and promote thoughtful deliberation on Brexit and the way ahead”.

It is thought that 100 voters will be chosen to make up the Citizens’ Forum, which is expected to hold its meetings in Coventry Cathedral next month. Parliament will then be presented with its findings in the run-up to the Brexit deadline on 31 October.

Senior figures from Labour, the SNP, Lib Dems, Greens, Plaid Cymru, as well as independent MPs, met in Church House in Westminster to pledge to do all they could to stop Boris Johnson suspending Parliament in order to ensure the UK leaves on Hallowe’en.

Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell, who was representing Labour, warned the Prime Minister his party “will not stand aside and let that happen”. He said: “I give this warning to Boris Johnson; Prime Ministers come and Prime Ministers go. “But actually I don’t think we’ve ever seen a Prime Minister like this who has the potential to threaten the very nature of our democracy.

“I just warn him that we will not stand aside and let that happen, and exactly as the declaration says we’ll use whatever mechanism necessary to prevent that happening”.

It’s like living in the make-believe world of Narnia, we’re in the icy grip of remainer snowflakes, and no matter how hard we try to break free, we can’t. I half expect to see Mr Tumnus hanging around by the lamppost outside.

And that group of self-opinionated overblown no-marks who gathered at Church House yesterday to proclaim the first ‘People’s Parliament’ should hang their heads in abject shame. There they were, in their very own little remainiac echo chamber…… Sorry, I mean the ‘People’s Remainiacs Echo Chamber’. There, that’s sorted it – from Kangaroo Court to total legitimacy with just the stroke of a pen. It’s easy to see why China, North Korea, Venezuela & Iran love to shove the word ‘People’s’ onto everything.
