Turmoil In The WLBC Cabinet

It’s reported that the WLBC Cabinet meeting tonight lasted just 11 minutes start to finish as Councillor Moran

brought item 6m Local Plan forward and then circulated a New Motion A. This was proposed and seconded by Cabinet members.

The motion passed was

“That the Local Delivery Scheme be amended to allow time for the reconsideration of the proposed Local Plan timescale and for the preparation of and consultation on a new Local Plan Preferred Options.”

Neither John Harrison’s report nor the Sefton letter were discussed. This new situation delays things considerably in that the LDS (Local Delivery Scheme) will be amended. Local Plan timescale will be extended. Preparation of and consultation on a new Local Plan Preferred Options Paper will take place, which in itself will be another long drawn out process involving the submission and consideration of new representations.

are reported to be satisfied for now that their concerns have so far been heeded but there was an element of the council being dragged kicking and screaming to this policy change.

And the costs involved will be the subject of close scrutiny by council tax payers already suffering from high council tax increases.
