What Do You Believe You Voted For?

The Chancellor of the Exchequer Philip Hammond says he must deliver “What the British people thought they were promised in the referendum”. The voting paper didn’t ask what anyone thought. Their thinking was already done.

It’s not the job of the Chancellor to assume what people thought they were promised. All the persuading had been done. They voted to leave the EU, and that’s what you have to deliver. Just get on with it!
