The  reports on “Parish Councillor Admits Attempted Murder After Running Over Ex-Wife”.

“Mark Gibbons mounted the pavement in a broad daylight attack. A former parish councillor tried to kill his ex-wife by running her over in a broad daylight attack. Mark Gibbons, 62, hit Julia Woolgar with his car on Aughton Street, Ormskirk in July 2018.

“Yesterday, at Preston Crown Court, Gibbons, a former Aughton parish councillor, had been expected to face trial to attempted murder but changed his plea to guilty. At an earlier hearing, he had pleaded guilty to assault and breaching a restraining order.

“Police were called to the incident at about 10.15am on Monday, July 23 after reports that a Citroen DS3 had mounted the pavement in and hit a pedestrian. Dr Woolgar, who herself was elected to Aughton Parish Council in 2015, suffered injuries to her lower body in the collision and was taken to Aintree Hospital.

“The couple regularly served on the organising committee of the Aughton’s Got Talent competition and were actively involved in the Aughton Community Together group.

“Gibbons, of Bold Lane, Ormskirk, was granted bail until sentencing on Monday, March 18”.
