Limited Squirming In Aughton

The highlight of the Aughton Parish Council meeting earlier this evening was a scathing response by Aughton Residents Group 2012 member Ian Forbes  to the platitudes of local borough councillors who were discussing the recent Parrs Lane Appeal Decision. The only local Aughton borough councillor who attended tonight was D Westley .

Mr Forbes took the opportunity to comment on the representations made to the Inquiry by himself and Colin Atkinson while the borough councillors who attended, Stephenson and M Westley, sat in silence, having been advised not to speak to the Inquiry. What are they elected for? His utter disdain was evident and enjoyed by ARG 2012 supporters.

Attendees tonight included APC Cllr Grant, LCC Cllr Greenall, APC Cllr Jones, WLBC Cllr D Westley. WLBC Cllrs Stephenson, O’Toole, Currie and M Westley were not present, from which it might be concluded discretion was the better part of valour, or, not wanting any of the 13 members of the public who attended to see them squirm.

Other matters included the ongoing closure of Aughton Police Station, awaiting a plasterer to attend to a ceiling for what is now two months, but the Police Chief Inspector would have something to say about it in May!! There were 17 new crimes reported since the last meeting including the usual assaults, criminal damages, burglaries, shoplifting, and some ongoing social disorder that requires some serious attention from police. Pity we don’t seem to be using the 101 telephone service enough for these to officially recorded.
