Spring Has Sprung

Many of the older generation will remember the old poem, thought to be by Ogden Nash.
“Spring has sprung, the grass is ris,
I wonder where the boidies is
The boid is on the wing,
But that’s absoid
From what I hoid
The wing is on the boid!”

Comedian Spike Milligan liked to recite it. In some of his most hilarious moments he also claimed to be “walking backwards to Christmas”. Why this moment of nostalgia? Because the local Tory Spring has sprung, the Members Newsletter is published. Wally is there, explaining the task for the WLBC election campaign. More candidates are announced, new names in Burscough West Gill Taylor, Derby Lynne Gray, Knowsley Jeff Vernon, the inevitable George Pratt in Scott, leaving just four unknown “paper” candidates in Skelmersdale held wards. You can see it here . Perhaps Wally will be walking backwards, not to Christmas but to continue into oblivion?
