Parrs Lane Public Inquiry Update

The Parrs Lane  Inquiry into unwanted housing development opened on 30th January and after the opening addresses Colin Atkinson reports that he “gave the Aughton Residents Group 2012 (ARG2012) presentation and showed its video in support of its objection to development. Irene Roberts the Aughton Parish Clerk gave evidence opposing the applications and then Peter Richards gave his evidence on behalf of WLBC and endured a long period of cross examination.

“Evidence has been heard from the developers’ expert witnesses relating to highways and affordable housing issues.

“ARG2012 member Ian Forbes gave his evidence today and the developers’ main expert in relation to planning issues was being cross examined this afternoon. It is anticipated that a “round the table discussion” regarding the 5 year land supply will take place tomorrow, Thursday.

“The Inspector intends making a site visit on Friday morning where this  is a normal scene when floods descend on the Prescot Road/Parrs Lane junction, hopefully at peak school time, and then the QCs will present their closing statements. As always it is impossible to predict the outcome at this stage but I consider that WLBC are putting up a very robust response, only time will tell.

“The inquiry is due to resume again at 0930 tomorrow Thursday and there are seats available in the public area to watch proceedings”.
