Long Lane Double Speeding Offence Goes Unpunished

Ormskirk and Burscough Police have reported on a driver caught speeding twice in one hour in their Long Lane Aughton Community Road Watch  checks yesterday between 12.15 to 13.15hrs. Of 176 Offences: 24 (One driver exceeded speed limit twice) Speeding 23; Fastest Speed 31 MPH; Seat Belts 1; Mobiles 0.

Because this is an “Educational Initiative” warning letters will be sent out by the CRW Team. But to Long Lane anti-speeding campaigners this double offence without charge is an insult to their efforts. The offender should be named and shamed and charged. Otherwise this will send out a message, I’ve been caught speeding, twice, so what!

By comparison, a check on Parliament Street Upholland had throughput of 511 cars and only 4 offences, 2 speeding and 2 seat belts.
