Beacon Park Golf Course Latest Report

You’d think the now “Registered Charitable Status” of the West Lancashire Community Leisure Trust Ltd  would have brought with it an obligation to be entirely truthful about its operations, particularly at the Beacon Park Golf Centre.

Well, it hasn’t. The “About Us” page of the West Lancashire Community Trust on 23rd July 2017 claims “Beacon Park Golf Centre is a well maintained golfing facility located right in the heart of West Lancashire. The whole family can tee off and enjoy a round of golf on our 18 Hole Par 72 course.

It claims “The Driving Range at Beacon Park Golf Centre is the only under cover floodlit range in the local area”. Untrue. “Why not come along and practice your swing in one of the 22 bays”. Untrue. “Whether you are a budding pro or a beginner, we can cater for you, from four years old or ability”. Untrue.

“Our team of leisure assistants are on hand to ensure your visit is a safe one as well as an enjoyable one”. Untrue. “Coming summer 2017 is a 9 Hole Par 27 course to test your skills even further”. Untrue. “If you fancy a change from golf, we are also introducing a 9 Hole foot golf course”. As yet Untrue.  [click to read].

“Junior Golf Camps are held throughout the year. The camps allow each child to develop their skills before taking part in a final 18 – Hole round of golf to win the Camp trophy. The course content will cover the following: The setup; The swing; The short game; Putting; Final Tournament; Please contact the Golf Club for details of forthcoming Junior Golf Camps”. All untrue.  [click to read]

“Mission; We will ensure that our actions lead to healthier more active life styles for the local community. This  is apparently a “safe environment” for golf customers on the new 9Hole course as it emerged from the landfill. This  is the “state of the art” golf course created by Oakland Golf and Leisure Ltd under contract from Serco Leisure Operating Services, using landfill such as this  that lies mere millimetres under the gravel where weeds now grow profusely. It’s the golf course without topsoil, truly a unique conception, or, to put it another way, a cheap and nasty deception while all the landfill fees have dissipated to who knows where?
