Crap Sewage Again In Burscough

This  was the scene a couple of days ago in Alexander Close Burscough, as the usual proof of neglect of the sewage system emerged from underground. Victorians probably had a better sewage system than the one United Utilities provides in 2017, and which WLBC and LCC condone by neglect.

Just in case you feel safe from this awful situation where you live, when the huge approved housing developments arrive, what are the chances that the infrastructure will match it? Probably nil, unless the developer is under an obligation to update it and United Utilities takes its responsibilities more seriously than it does in Burscough.

Burscough Flooding Group is relentless in its fight for a modern sewage system, but why should it have to? Group member Gillian Draper lives by that scene shown above and stated “This is the second time in two weeks we have raw sewage running down our street. Surely this is an unacceptable health risk?”

The Flooding Group say “Unfortunately WLBC doesn’t consider that the flooding problems in an area which isn’t near a river should be taken into account, unless they are designated as critical drainage areas. You might be surprised to know that it is WLBC’s responsibility to designate critical drainage areas and they haven’t designated any critical drainage areas and that is the reason every large building development in Burscough has flooding issues.

“This is UUs problem, their sewers are hydraulically inadequate in Burscough you need to ring UU on 03456723723. WLBC won’t help you because they want to keep Burscough’s problem quiet so they can build lots of houses and get the new housing bonus from the government without waiting for the sewers to be upgraded first. LCC equally won’t help you solve the source of the problem and the EA will say that it has nothing to do with them. UU are happy not to upgrade the sewers because they will make additional profit”.
