Labour Claims The Best Candidate For Aughton Park Ward Is Bernie Green

As reported, Bernie Green  has been chosen by the people of Aughton Park Ward to stand as their candidate in June’s Borough Council by-election caused by the resignation of the previous Conservative member. Bernie has a wealth of experience from her career and voluntary work locally, having started out working as a civil servant many years ago, she then spent 20 years working as a sales negotiator specifically in the Aughton Park area.

A mother of two, Bernie is now retired and a full time carer for her disabled husband Denis. Bernie remains a Governor at St Patrick’s Primary School. In the community, Bernie has served as secretary of the Parent Teachers Association of St Teresa’s Primary School and sat on an advisory group for St Peter’s High School. She was also part of the ladies fundraising group for St Teresa’s Church, as well as a Marriage Registrar.

Bernie has also kept herself busy working for the local Citizens Advice Bureau and volunteering at a local care home. Previously, Bernie has also worked as a market researcher. She said “I’ve been a member of the Labour Party  for many years and having played an active role in local campaigns I feel I can put myself forward to stand up for local residents right across West Lancashire and here in Aughton Park which I know very well.

“I have seen first-hand the devastation that decisions made by this government are having on my family, friends and neighbours and I want to be there to represent them at Borough Council level. Locally, we have our challenges from Parrs Lane to speeding to local amenities, and I want to play an active role in working with residents and the councils to see just what we can achieve in the face of adversity”.

And Rosie Cooper said of Bernie “She is an inspiring woman who has worked hard all her life, volunteered as much as she could and is a devoted and loving wife and mother. We often talk about representing the entire borough equally and electing Bernie will help the council both geographically and to better reflect the views of our carers, our pensioners and our women here in West Lancashire.

“I look forward to supporting Bernie in her endeavours in Aughton Park and ensuring Bernie is sitting on West Lancashire Borough Council come June. It is clear the residents of Aughton Park need a councillor who will stand up for you and speak out on the issues important to you. Look at the commitment and dedication she has shown to serving others through her community and voluntary work. Bernie Green is that person”.
