Power Tends To Corrupt

…and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Two years ago, May 2015, we were treated to a diatribe from Wally Westley that “The [WLBC] Council AGM saw the success of a left wing and unreformed socialist coup with the election of a new Labour Leader of the Council and the appointment of a Cabinet stuffed full with Trade Union activists”. He neglected to say the previous Council Cabinet had been stuffed with land developer supporting capitalist activists. Wally also declared that “Any voter who voted for Rosie Cooper MP, another ex-LibDem, and thought her moderate politics were reflected in the Council’s Labour Group will be in for a nasty shock and may feel there has been a breach of the Trades Description Act”.

Unfortunately for Wally Westley breaches of the Trades Description Act don’t include political bullshit. They don’t even include what was already recorded and ready to be exposed, that it isn’t just Labour leaders and or trade union activists who receive both barrels from him. From his own email, 1st May 2013,  to Cllr Paul V Greenall…”Your snide remark is somewhat typical but no doubt motivated by your failed attempt to pinch my seat” [click to read].

This came before the worst hatchet job of all as described by Adrian Owens “I was elected Leader of the Conservative Group on the council by the 27-strong group of councillors in a secret ballot – one person, one vote. Two Conservative councillors wouldn’t accept that decision and immediately set about destabilising the Group. Regretfully, they were aided and abetted by the newly elected Deputy Leader, Councillor Westley who had just lost the Leadership Election… There followed two weeks of scheming and plotting by a few in the Conservative group. Ultimately the two councillors who refused to accept the democratic decision of the Group chose to refuse to vote with their Conservative colleagues when electing the Leader of the Council”.

Adrian Owens went on to say “Power without service is fruitless. I had won election as Leader saying that I would be a servant Leader. That requires an approach of inclusion and respect to all – councillor colleagues, officers and the public of West Lancashire. It doesn’t mean being soft. Hard and controversial decisions would still be taken – but information would be shared, opinions listened to and the dignity of all involved in the decision making would be respected”.

Wally has completed his tyrannical rise through his party, now Leader and Chairman, and that party is in his image. Who will we vote for tomorrow? We can vote for ToryWallyism, Labour, Our West Lancashire, UKIP, Green, LibDem Focus. I’m reminded from the mists of time of Animal Farm and a few lines from the “Beasts Of England” poem “’Beasts of England, beasts of Ireland, beasts of every land and clime. Hearken to my joyful tidings of the golden future time. Soon or late the day is coming, Tyrant Man shall be o’erthrown. And the fruitful fields of England shall be trod by beasts alone”.

You might think it’s time for tyrant man to be overthrown, that his seat isn’t just pinched but pulled from under him?

  1. Parliamentary candidate 1 – Owens – knifed by Westley
Parliamentary candidate 2 – Greenall – knifed by Westley
How long do we give poor old Sam Currie?

    • Predictably, as Adrian Owens wisely left, and Paul Greenall fought back to dump Wally from his safe LCC seat, Currie will probably be dropped not long after the GE?
