Chief Executive’s Update On Meetings Bloody Meetings

 The last two weeks have seen a focus on progressing key projects and electoral matters, with the announcement also on 18 April 2017 that a General Election is intended for 8 June 2017. Preparation for the next Council meeting on Wednesday 26 April 2017, and the Annual Council meeting on 17 May 2017 has also continued.

On Wednesday 19 April 2017, I was pleased to attend a useful training session for Polling Station staff run by the Elections team in relation to the Lancashire County Council elections on 4 May 2017.

On Thursday 20 April, I chaired the regular meeting of the Lancashire Economic Development Officers Group, and in particular it was fascinating to receive a presentation from Ruth Connor, Chief Executive of Marketing Lancashire, on the strategic work being done to market Lancashire and attract inward investment.

Also on Thursday 20 April, I held my regular election planning meeting with Terry Broderick, Borough Solicitor, Matthew Jones, Legal and Member Services Manager, Tom Lynan, Electoral and Administration Services Manager and Susanne Malmgren, Senior Electoral and Administration Officer.

On Friday 21 April, I attended the regular meeting of the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, and reports were agreed in relation to governance, transport, employment and skills and economic development matters.

With the count for the elections to the County Council taking place on Friday 5 May 2017, the next edition of West Lancs Now will be issued on Monday 8 May 2017. issuen Monday 8 May 2017.
