What Future For Historic Bridge?

Misuse of a historic bridge in Ormskirk reported in the Champion   [click to read] gives local resident Barrie French concern for its future. So he’s suggested that CCTV cameras could be used to prosecute drivers of vehicles exceeding the legal weight limit of 18 tonnes  [pic courtesy of Champion]. As he points out, permanent damage would cost the LCC much more than preventive measures now. And his fears are shared by OWL Cllr Adrian Owens  who wants police alerted to breaches when CCTV operatives spot offenders. Quite right too, because if it crashes down one thing we can be certain of is a bankrupt LCC won’t be paying for a new one!
