Brownfield Sites Registers Continued

WLBC has until 31st December 2017 to publish its first Brownfield Register. It will be looking at the new regulations and reviewing precisely what the Register needs to do (as it is slightly different from what was originally proposed, taking on-board what was learnt from the Pilot authorities last year) and then WLBC will prepare the Register later in the year.  [click to read]

The main difference appears to be that the Register will be in two parts. Part 1 will list every brownfield site that meets a prescribed list of criteria. Part 2 will list those sites in Part 1 that WLBC as a Council chooses to “allocate” for residential development and, in so doing, grant Permission in Principle to. Should there be any sites WLBC wishes to place in Part 2, there are a number of procedures it needs to go through before that decision can be made, including publicity of, and consultation on, the sites it proposes to include on Part 2, given that their allocation would grant Permission in Principle.
