Could You Be A County Councillor?

Could you be a county councillor and stand for what you believe in? Once again Borough Cllr Paul Greenall  has tweeted “Leafleting 2day I was asked if I’ll be both a Borough & County Cllr? ‘No’ I replied, if elected 2 County in May I’ll resign my Borough seat”. And once again there is silence from him on anyone being a borough councillor in two boroughs, Wyre and West Lancashire, each seat obviously part-time but each paying full time. So Cllr Greenall is ignoring what his own and the Labour members do, wearing two hats. Will he take the party whip if he wins the county seat?

Lancashire County Council is reminding people interested in standing as candidates for the Council election in May of the deadline to register their interest. Nominations open after 24 March, when the election is formally called, and close at 4pm on 4 April. Forms can be obtained from your local district elections office. Details are available at

The County Council is holding local elections on 4 May and new candidates are needed to represent their areas. There will be 84 seats available to cover all of Lancashire.
