Council Vacancy-Deputy Director Of Leisure And Wellbeing

A WLBC vacancy is advertised for “Grade WLe Annual salary £53,381 – £54,189 per annum. An exciting and rare opportunity has become available for a dynamic and enthusiastic leisure professional with a proven track record in strategic leadership to join us here at West Lancashire Borough Council. The Deputy Director of Leisure and Wellbeing will lead the Council’s Leisure and Cultural Services and champion leisure, culture, arts, health and wellbeing. They will also take the lead role for liaison with children’s service providers on behalf of the Borough Council”. The post holder will be expected to continue delivering a culture of continuous improvement, performance management, innovation, and customer service excellence, within challenging budgetary controls and in line with the Council’s strategic aims and objectives.

The successful candidate will have experience of effective project management, procurement and delivery of significant capital projects. Alongside your extensive experience in partnership working in a variety of settings, local authority experience would also be advantageous. You will also have the flexibility and depth of decision-making skills to deputise for the Director in his absence, when you would be responsible for a diverse range of leisure, culture, environmental health, licensing, private sector housing, emergency planning/business continuity and corporate health and safety services.

A key aspect of this job will be “To undertake partnership/contract management and liaison with the Council’s leisure trust partners; ensuring that the partnership/contractor meets contractual requirements and delivers services in an effective way; meeting the Council’s priorities, providing appropriate improvements to the facilities, and a high level of customer service” which means working with Serco Leisure Operating Services and Oakland Golf and Leisure Ltd to clear up the appalling mess caused by the landfill dumping on the Beacon Park Golf Course beaconrubble1202-004.
