HPC has invited the Environment Agency, the NFU, John Herbert, and Borough Councillor John Hodgson to attend and speak at the meeting in the Memorial Hall to give an updated progress report on this issue that is of major importance to the borough.

West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper has obtained a 12 month delay to the intended closure date while the government considers legislative changes to land drainage. After all, members of the public might ask, what on earth is the point of having a “floods, water and waterways” minister merely to discuss after the event flooding effects on the economy and lives? Perhaps she might become the “Floods avoidance minister” and put tax payers’ money where it needs to be? Who wants to be reading about any more “floods crisis” meetings?

The meeting starts at 7.30 pm.
