West Lancashire Dementia Alliance Meeting

Cllr Gareth Dowling garethd has written to people who have shown interest in dementia “Many thanks for expressing your interest in getting involved in West Lancashire Dementia Action Alliance and helping to work towards a Dementia Friendly West Lancashire, and to those who were able to attend our launch event at the council offices in December.

“Things are fast moving in the world of dementia and it’s often difficult to keep up, but it’s important we push on following our launch. Our next engagement will be our first formal meeting, which will take the style of a board/committee meeting, where we will seek to put some flesh on the bones as such, and identify our priorities for the group, how we structure ourselves and who will take on the leading of this group, be it an elected/appointed Chair, and/or a core Steering Group who will drive forward our vision.

“At the launch, I spoke about each representative organisation completing their Action Plan, to become a full member of the DAA and be listed here on the DAA website. A link to the action plan document is here and I would be grateful if we could start receiving these through and populating the website. I have also included a downloadable version attached should there be any issues online. This link will give you guidance on and ideas for filling in your action plans. You can view existing members on our West Lancashire DAA webpage here.

“Also attached are some example group action plans from others in the county, including Burnley, Blackpool, Hyndburn, Pendle and our neighbours at South Ribble. As you will see, the action plans do vary as each group is autonomous and identifies the actions they wish to take relevant to their area. I’ve included the presentation I gave at our launch event, for those who were unable to attend, but also for those who were who may wish to run back through it and consider some of the diagrams, etc that are included.

“Finally, attached is the agenda for the meeting which I will Chair and introduce and explain what each item means. If you have any questions in the interim please don’t hesitate to get in touch, or if not I look forward to seeing many of you on Tuesday. For seating purposes, it would be useful if you could RSVP your attendance Gareth.Dowling@alzheimers.org.uk uniteddementia

The meeting is in the Cabinet/Committee Room, West Lancashire Borough Council, 52 Derby Street, Ormskirk, L39 2DF 31/01/2017 10am-12pm.
