Local Hospitals In Crisis?

Our West Lancashire owllogo reports on the state of our local hospitals. They claim “Last week, our local hospitals declared operating pressures on 5 out of the 6 days listed and on 4th January the pressure level was raised to the highest possible where there is “increased potential for patient care and safety to be compromised”. They have written as follows to the Chief Executive

Dear Mr McInnes

We read with concern the latest statistics released today from NHS England1 which showed that Southport and Ormskirk NHS Trust declared an Operating Pressure Escalation Level of 3 or more on 5 out of 6 days between 3rd January-8th January. Especially concerning was that on January 4th you declared OPEL4 a level at which there is “increased potential for patient care and safety to be compromised.”

We represent the concerns of residents in West Lancashire, and as such we are writing to you to ask what steps you have and are taking to address this very concerning situation for local health services. We look forward to your response.
