Ask The Council Leader A Question

The innovative OWLs “have scored a success after one local resident Mark Oakley asked the Council Leader a question via Our West Lancashire at July’s council meeting after concerns he identified with security on the council’s website.

As a result of Mark’s scrutiny and questions the council responded and now has the top assessment grade with SSL Labs qualys-ssl-labs-logo. The Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol is a standard for encrypted network communication. We feel that there is surprisingly little attention paid to how SSL is configured, given its widespread usage. SSL is relatively easy to use, but it does have its traps. This guide aims to establish a straightforward assessment methodology, allowing administrators to assess SSL server configuration confidently without the need to become SSL experts.

Now, OWLs are asking any residents “Do you want to put the Council Leader on the spot? Write to and we’ll put a selection to him at December’s council meeting”.
