Golfers Can Feel At Home In West Lancashire

…so states WLBC- there are a number of excellent golf courses. One of which listed is Beacon Park Golf Course. Up Holland, Skelmersdale.

Web: New website coming soon…This 18-hole golf course is a picturesque testing ground set high above the Lancashire plain. The 5,996 yard course has a par of 72. Golfers can just turn up and play without needing to be a member. Just phone in advance to book a tee time. The course has bar and restaurant facilities which can cater for individual groups, private functions and golf societies.

Sadly, as previously reported here, it has no driving range. But it will have the foot golf facility eventually! The date for that appears to be a hit and miss target. Here are some pictures beacon1111-007 taken today that show mud, glorious mud, beacon1111-005beacon1111-003 beacon1111-006 and landfill including plastic piping beacon1111-011 and boulders beacon1111-013 the like of which we have never seen before [click all pics to enlarge]. The new 9hole heap is still unattended and remains fit only for rabbits and birds. It is, like the foot golf development, a monument to the disastrous contract awarded without competition from golf course specialists, but somebody is banking the landfill profits, sadly not council tax payers. “Set high above the Lancashire plain” and now even higher!
