EXCLUSION OF PRESS AND PUBLIC

It is recommended that members of the press and public be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the following item(s) of business in accordance with Section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act 1972 on the grounds that it involves the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Paragraphs 3 (Financial/Business Affairs) & 5 (Legal Proceedings) of Part 1 of Schedule 12A to the Act and as, in all the circumstances of the case the public interest in maintaining the exemption under Schedule 12A outweighs the public interest in disclosing the information.

  1. So, they’ll be discussing whether to initiate a Judicial Review. Don’t see why that would result in our ‘transparent’ council drawing the curtains on us. But then again, we’re talking about WLBC.

    • Hopefully it means they will be sticking two fingers up, to quote a well known phrase, at officers who don’t want a challenge to THEIR assertion that there are no points of law to challenge the Inspector’s decision. Cases before courts are proving otherwise and one such case will be heard at the Supreme Court soon. In a democracy, elected members views are rather more acceptable to the electorate than the views of those we employ?
