Whose NHS Is It?

How many of us know that Virgin Care Services provide front line NHS and social care services across the country? They’ve apparently done it since 2006. Virgin is NOT a charity. Ten years of privatisation giving profits away that ought to have been retained within the NHS. stopvirgin

How many of us know about Optum Health Solutions with its UK offices in London and Oxford, US offices in San Francisco, CA; Colorado Springs, CO; Denver, CO; Rocky Hill, CT; Duluth, GA; Lenexa, KS; Overland Park, KS; Louisville, KY; Eden Prairie, MN; Minneapolis, MN; Basking Ridge, NJ; Providence, RI; Salt Lake City, UT; Reston, VA: Milwaukee, WI, and its operations across North America, South America, Europe, Asia Pacific and the Middle East? Now, Optum has been approved to join the Commissioning Support Lead Provider Framework (LPF) championed by NHS England. The LPF is used by clinical commissioning groups (CCGs), NHS England and other customers to source some or all of their commissioning support needs. Optum is NOT a charity. optum

So we ask why? And more to the point, why will our Southport and Ormskirk Hospitals be destabilised and lose income because Virgin and Optum will be favoured for providing our NHS services while S & O are rejected as applicants to continue running community and some urgent care services?

MP Rosie Cooper has published her NHS Special Edition report shown here. nhsrosie1 nhsrosie2 [click to enlarge] Like me you may have thought NHS West Lancashire is best running local health services. But it seems that some local NHS senior staff don’t agree. It’s a simple question from Rosie Cooper “Is West Lancashire an NHS area where profit comes before people?” Read the privatisation plans and decide if you want to petition against them.
