Captain for 2016 Tom Jackson issued this message “A big thank you to our 14 man team in taking part in the South Lancashire Municipal Golf Clubs Association team championship. I am so proud of you, what a great win. I feel as though my year as Captain has begun today after some sticky moments of late. The membership at Beacon Golf Club are a fantastic crowd and I will always do whatever I can for our club, and thanks for your turnout at the Trust AGM. Let’s get our course back to where it should be, in the top ten again. Come on Serco, we are doing our bit. Give us a course to be proud of again”.

Bowring Park Golf Course, one of the first municipal golf courses in England, is set within the grounds of Bowring Park, a leisure and recreational park built on land donated to the people of Liverpool by the Bowring family in 1907. The original 9 hole course of 1913 has since been lengthened to 18 holes providing a terrific facility leisure facility to people in the local and surrounding area. The course is located just off the M62, making it easy to access and just to make the course even more interesting, you even have to cross over the motorway to get to a section of the golf course!

The parkland course encapsulates a variety of golfing challenges with a well balanced mixture of par 3 and 4 holes. All 18 holes represent a great golfing experience for all abilities and all at superb value for money.

Bowring Park Golf Course now has a 9 hole foot golf course, seen here,  Bowring-Park-Footgolf-25 opened in June. They state “This new 9 hole course brings the foot golf craze to Liverpool. Take on the challenge of Bowring Park’s tree-lined foot golf course layout which is open 7 days a week. Prices for foot golf (9 holes) (Effective from the 1st June 2016) Foot golf tee times available all day. Adults Mon – Sunday (& Public Holidays) £10 Juniors (Under 18’s, off peak times) Mon – Sunday (& Public Holidays) £5 Family (two adults & two kids) Mon Sunday (& Public Holidays) £20. Can anyone imagine this wonderful course being copied at the landfill site at Beacon Park?
