Derby Street Bridge Cock-up Latest

Exchanges of emails about the Derby Street Bridge have continued between Ormskirk stalwart Barrie French and LCC Highways Portfolio holder John Fillis, who may by now need a “Derby Street Bridge” dedicated assistant to help him? The latest exchange which reminds me of “dog with a bone” dogbigbone, is copied here.

To John Fillis. Hi John, looks like your highways team have not informed the police, as to when the TRO was put in place, who will you blame for this? Barrie

Hello Barry. This is the same one that is already going through the complaints procedure so the people will not change. Keep up the good work. Thanks John.

Hi John, try and keep up, this is telling us that the TRO is in place as of the 27/5/16 which you must know about? But you and your highways team led by you did not tell the police, which is of the most important thing to do, don’t you take any responsibilities for anything your highways team says or does?, I think you are not up to the job. Barrie

Hello Barry. This is all part of the same complaint, you have just added to it by stating that the police have not been informed. Thanks John

Hi John. Yes that is two major mistakes made by your highways team, the first not applying for a TRO, then months later when the TRO was in place not to inform the police is really unforgivable, and as highways leader to get someone to be disciplined when as leader it is you who should take the blame. Barrie.

At this stage Barrie changes tack and plays his ace…at least I thinks that’s what it is.

Hi Cllr Westley. As my local LCC will you be taking any action on this? As you do not reply to some of my other emails, and never give me your opinion. Look forward to your views. Regards B FRENCH

At this stage Cllr Fillis might feel the Gods of Evil approaching, as Cllr Westley, one of Aughton’s very own elephants in the room westleyphants, enters the fray with his usual spraying of bullshit all over his opponents from his sanctimonious position of self-righteousness!

Dear Mr French I acknowledge receipt of your various emails and note your concerns about the apparent multiple failings of LCC Highways with the implementation of the weight restriction on the Derby Street Bridge. I had refrained from commenting as you had already brought the problems to the attention of Cllr Fillis as well as the appropriate members of staff at LCC Highways and a formal complaint had been logged that is now being investigated. The problem with the implementation of the Weight Restriction is just one of many in LCC Highways that can be laid against Cllr Fillis in the 3 years he has been the responsible Portfolio Holder. He has presided over a shambolic re-organisation of the service that has worsened efficiency and failed to make the appropriate savings. Instead he has concentrated on cutting services, presided over a steady deterioration in the quality of our local roads and totally failed to provide the necessary investment to address the severe traffic congestion in and around Ormskirk. Regards Councillor David Westley West Lancashire East Division Lancashire County Council

[Poor Cllr Fillis, after reading that I could almost believe he is single-handedly responsible for the entire austerity programme caused by Westley’s own party in government].

Hi Cllr Wrestley, Thank you for your reply, but all I wanted from you as my local LCC was to put pressure on Cllr Fillis on my behalf, at the bottom of your email I note that you say about the state of the roads and the congestion in and around Ormskirk, can you provide me with letters or emails sent to Cllr Fillis of your concerns and if you read the local press many letters are sent in about these issues. Look forward to your reply. REGARDS B FRENCH

Don’t we all, Mr French?

Responses

  1. Hi Alan well done, funny and to the point. Barrie

    • It’s good of you to say so Barrie, let’s hope John Fillis agrees?

  2. I do hope Mr French doesn’t hold his breath waiting for a reply from Wezza.

Mr Fillis, on the other hand…

    • The elephant in the room might fall back on predetermination, as is often the case, while all the time knowing of WLBC advice that “You are entitled to be predisposed to make planning decisions in accordance with your political views and policies provided that you have considered all material considerations and have given fair consideration to relevant points raised” but that might be too complex?.
