Beacon Park 4th Green

In returning to the issue “regarding water of the greens at Beacon Golf Course” an officer stated “I can advise the following. The facilities are managed by West Lancashire Community Leisure Limited. The golf course management have confirmed that there have been no requirements to use the irrigation system or the 1,000 Litre water bowser during the last three months.

“They have also confirmed;-The use of the watering system and water bowser are carefully considered with a close watch on weather forecast and the likelihood of rain. The weather and the incidents of rain play an important part in the considerations regarding irrigation. During long period of dry weather then the water bowser and irrigation system will be used, as it was during the summer 2015. Each green will take up to 1,000 Litres of water (one full bowser per green); at no time has any golf member been asked to bring a watering can.

“The green keeper monitors the greens and together in consultation with the course manager has the option to irrigate the greens if required. The cost of 1,000 Litres of water per green and the staff resources/time used are a factor in those considerations. The option to irrigate the greens was considered earlier this week however the weather forecast indicated rain. It rained on Wednesday evening this week with more rain forecast this weekend and again next week. I can also confirm that there are no reports to WLBC Leisure Services regarding spending restrictions”.

On Thursday 9 June 2016 a member angrygolfer3took this photograph of the Beacon Park 4th green beacon4thgreen. Does there need to be any discussion by anybody about its condition, least of all a golf course management that has confirmed there have been no requirements to use an irrigation system or bowser during the last three months? Did this happen to the 4th green overnight?
