Home Robbery In Winifred Lane Aughton

pactlogo A woman was tied up and had her smart phone stolen during a robbery at an address in Aughton last night (May 11th).

At around 11:35pm the lone female occupant aged 59 has heard a noise coming from her front door on Winifred Lane. She has gone to investigate when three men have smashed their way through the entrance. She was forced into her lounge by two of the men, whilst one threatened her with a cosh-like weapon, making demands for cash.

The victim was then tied up with a blanket and the offenders made off on foot taking an iPhone handset and are believed to have headed from Winifred Lane across the A59 in the direction of Turnpike Road.

The stolen iPhone was later recovered from some bushes at the junction of Turnpike Road and the A59. The victim was left with a minor injury to her chest where it is thought she was hit by the glass.

DS Ian Derbyshire from Skelmersdale CID said “This was an extremely distressing incident for the victim, particularly as she was alone and should have been safe in her own home. The A59 is a busy road and so I am hoping someone will have seen something. If you have witnessed three men in the area on foot or getting into a waiting car, please get in touch. Similarly if you have any information at all that could help, please make contact.”

One of the men is described as white, in his twenties, of average height, slim to medium build and wore black clothing with a hood pulled tight around his face. A second man is also thought to be in his twenties, white, slim to medium build and was also wearing black clothing with a scarf covering his face. Both men spoke with Liverpool accents.  If you have any information that could assist with this investigation please call police on 101 quoting incident reference 1610 of May 11th.
